Iron fist, and what could make it better…

Ok, so we all can admit that Iron fist was not the best Marvels series on Netflix.  It might be the worst, but I am not going to put that title on it.  It is a miss step for the Netflix/ Marvel brand, but it isn’t unfixable.  Here are a couple of things that I liked and disliked about the show.

The show was fun.

Marvel seems to have mastered what makes their shows fun to watch; whether it is a character with a decent sense of humor like in Jessica Jones or just a likable character in Luke Cage.  It seems like you can sit down and watch their series and at least have a good time with them.

The acting was sub-par by the best.

They chose actors who are not well-known, and that isn’t the problem.  The problem is that these actors aren’t well-known because they aren’t very good actors.  The main actor Finn Jones, playing Dany, is probably mostly known from his short appearances in Game of Thrones.  He is great in small cameo’s but doesn’t have the ability to carry the series yet.  He seems awkward, and forced.  His counter parts are not much better around him.  They all seem to not really be acting, but doing impressions of people acting.  Just throws everything off and takes me out of the show.

I never felt that connected to anyone.

Most of the Marvel characters usually are made up of average individuals who extraordinary things happen to.  The main character is from a very wealthy family who wound up with monks after his family’s private jet crashed when he was a child.   I am not sure about any of you all, but I have never flown Private, but it is on my bucket list.  I just don’t think there is a good connection point because of his wealth.  Now, I know what you are saying.  “David, Tony Stark is very wealthy and people love him.”  I agree, there are similarities in the wealth of the characters and I think the lack of good acting facilitates the lack of connection.  Tony Stark seems like the Steve Jobs type of CEO/ Owner.  Someone who gets his hands dirty in the business.  Danny Rand just seems like a rich kid that wouldn’t know the difference between a P and L sheet and the new cover sheet for TPS reports.

Overall, I Think Iron Fist had potential, just fell short of the mark.  Could future seasons be better?  Sure.  I am willing to give it another shot.  Are you?  Let us know in the comments.
